~ Finally The Trip Was A Memorable One ~

Filling everything with chaotic and dramatic moments for weeks and now I am back. For the past weekends I was typically busy with weddings and engagement ceremony to attend. With that finally myself and my beloved hubby made it to our Perhentian Island trip.

The group was completed by 10 of us which basically my hubby office colleagues. It was agreed for both of us to leave for the trip from my parent's home in Gombak and head to Ms. Mazni house for the trip. Had a light dinner meal made by her mother and then walking straight to wait for the bus.The journey started almost around 10pm and gosh it was a memorable moment since the driver was almost likely driving a F1 car climbing the stiff hills and gazing in the darkness night.Thank God we arrived safely in Kuala Besut around 5:30am.

~ Perhentian Island - Travel Tips ~

The best time to visit
The monsoon season peaks between November and March every year. You can expect more rain and rough seas and most resorts are typically closed from end October through end-February. Peak season is between July and August and prices rise accordingly. During off-peak times, rates are negotiable. You may need to book well in advance during peak time and also for public holidays and weekends. Note that most budget resorts do not accept bookings and handle guests on a walk-in basis only.....From the above saying that we are going at the right time which is best for all....fun..fun...fun...

Climate
Equatorial with fairly uniform temperatures year-round, ranging from 21ºC (70ºF) to 32ºC (90ºF). Humidity is high (85-95%). Annual rainfall varies from 2,000mm to 2,500mm and most rain can be expected between November and February......Not so hot neither now raining is expected...just nice yet I am bringing my tan lotion....gosh I am not getting tan at all...no way...not in Malaysia condition...freaky!!!

Clothing
Very casual. There are no dress restrictions on the islands and light cotton clothing, t-shirts and shorts would be suitable....Is naked permitted...ihihi..... In some villages and rural areas, modest clothing is more appropriate. Topless sunbathing for women is not acceptable.....there my answer go....thought of doing so...hahah... Terengganu is an Islamic state and it is best to dress modestly when in doubt..I bet the panoramic view will be so different that what is mentioned...

Shopping
Expect to pay significantly more for everything on the island than you would pay on the mainland. There are several convenience and souvenir stores as well as laundry service....I am definitely no shopping anything except my fridge magnet...ihih..its a must man!!

Here's the best part and mark it well ya guyz.....

There are no banks or ATMs on the island or in Kuala Besut. Some resorts and dive centres accept VISA and Mastercard but it is best to have enough cash with you to cover your expenses while at the island. The closest ATMs and banks can be found in Jerteh (15 km from Kuala Besut).....

Pre Plan To Our Next Domestic Trip

The upcoming June 12th, 2009 was the best date my hubby choose to take me to a trip after his eldest brother wedding reception which will take place on May 30th, 2009. I guess my hubby just want to get away and have fun and relax session.

This trip is being planned out by my hubby friends which will be my very first experience going a holiday with outsiders...I mean its no longer privacy yet I hope it will be more joyful since there are more than just US.....

So for this post, I will work on the lookout for the island because I have never been there...Don't be surprise that even though I have been travelling various part of the world not even once I got my feet for a holiday on an island except Penang....which we really don't consider it an island...

Let me begin by browsing the location on the map and look what we have there....

It comprises of two islands; Pulau Perhentian Besar and Pulau Perhentian Kecil. Both islands are surrounded by beautiful palm-fringed powdery white sandy beaches and crystal-clear turquoise-blue sea.

The two Perhentian Islands are rated as some of the most beautiful islands in the world; a virtual paradise for snorkeling and diving in crystal-clear water or just for lazing on one of the white sandy beaches waiting for the coconuts to drop …

Upon the accommodation provided shows there are a lot of chalets yet I am not sure to which that have been pick for our trip...Probably of this below....

Arwana Perhentian Eco Resort
& Beach Chalet

Perhentian Island, Terengganu

Bubu Resort
Long Beach, Perhentian Island Kecil
Terengganu

New Cocohut Chalets
Perhentian Besar Island
Perhentian Island, Terengganu
Tel : ++603-9133-2000

p.s ~ I don't really mind where the chalet as long it is with my hubby....just consider it as part of our long last and forever honeymoon mood....

Let move the the place of interest that this island can offer...

The beaches are more suited to swimmers and snorkelers rather than divers because they lead to shallow water over sand with lots of rays, cuttlefish and parrot fish. For divers, the group of small rocky islets to the Northwest of Pulau Perhentian Kecil is a location not to be missed. The tiny islets have irregular patches of stunted soft tree corals in many colours and deeper down, one can explore the wonders of king-size barrel sponges with Alabaster Sea Cucumbers. Common to the area are harp and black corals, while large hard corals are absent. There are large off-white soft tree corals growing on an experimental artificial reef laid down for the Department of Fisheries to the west of Pulau Perhentian Kecil. The rate of growth is unusual for this region.

Tokong Laut lies out in the sea in the northwest of the Perhentian Islands. It is a rocky pinnacle covered with soft and hard corals. You can find dozens of small bamboo sharks lying under the corals, sleeping. Sometimes there are several lying one on top of the other, moving there tails with the water current. Look under the rocks around 20m. If you don't find bamboo sharks it will be a moray eel! This time there were also a lot of mackerels and jackfish.

Terumbu Tiga lies on the east of Perhentian Besar Island. Its a jumble of large rocks with many swim through. Visibility isn't so good and there is often a slight film of particles on the rocks. Nudibranchs seem to love it, specially one that is called "blue dragon", a beautiful bluish, violet slug. Terumbu Tiga was one of our first dives in that area. Great!

Well I guess the impression to spend the vacation looks interesting...For those viewer who has been the Perhantian Island may share some expirience and guideline to mark my vacation an unforgetable one....
